The Opioid Crisis is now an Epidemic.  Over 75% of the 107,000 overdose deaths in 2021 involved an opioid.  Three out of five overdose deaths were preventable.  Training the public on how to reverse a drug overdose will save thousands of lives each yearpreventable opioid overdose deaths increased 41% in 2020 and another 18% in 2021. The 35- to 44-year age group is experiencing the most opioid overdose deaths – 20,137 – a 20% increase from 2020, and a 73% increase since 2019. Currently, 71% of preventable opioid deaths occur among those ages 25 to 54, and the number of deaths among individuals 55 and older is growing rapidly.
